OHIO SOIL AND WATER CONSERVATION COMMISSION
ELECTION LEGAL NOTICE The Ohio Soil and Water Conservation Commission will cause an election of Supervisors of the Hocking Soil and Water Conservation District to be held in accordance with Chapter 940 of the Ohio Revised Code. Individuals who own or occupy land within the Hocking Soil and Water Conservation District and are 18 years of age or older may vote for Supervisor. There are three ways an eligible voter can cast a ballot: (1) At the Hocking SWCD office from October 9, 2024 until November 7, 2024 during normal business hours 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; or (2) At the Hocking SWCD Annual Meeting & Banquet, Thursday, November 7, 2024 at The Logan High School 14470 OH-328 Logan, OH. 43138 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. (3) Vote absentee from October 9, 2024 until November 7, 2024, by requesting the ballot application and election ballot from the HSWCD office at the following address 148 N. Homer Ave., Logan, OH. 43138, by calling 740-385-3016, or email [email protected] Two Supervisors will be elected to three-year terms commencing January 1, 2025 and ending December 31, 2027 Nominees are: Scott Mong and Bruce Sater Meet the Candidates Scott Mong, and his wife, Pam, live in Washington Township. They have two children and three grandchildren. Scott has raised hogs, goats, cattle, and hay for over 30 years. He plants and practices a diverse grass grazing program along with beekeeping for pollination. He has an Associate’s Degree in Fire and EMS. Scott is retired from the Lancaster Fire Department and Hocking College. He is a member of the Presbyterian Church, a former Farm Bureau Board Member, and is completing his sixth year as a Hocking SWCD Supervisor. Bruce Sater, his wife, Stacy, and their four children live on the family Century Farm recognized in 2016 by the Ohio Department of Agriculture, located in Laurel Township. Bruce raises cattle & sheep along with producing row crops, lavender and hay. He practices no-tilling along with cover crops. He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Agricultural Economics from Ohio State University, a Master of Business Administration from Ohio University and is an American Society of Agronomy-Certified Crop Advisor. Bruce is a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Logan and is completing his third year as a Hocking SWCD Supervisor. |
